You can stage a mystery party at your place of accommodation as part of a weekend of mystery entertainment or as a evening long event.

The party can be staged as an interactive mystery event and include any type of food service you wish from a full sit down dinner, buffet, or light fare and/or dessert. Work the food right into the theme of the party and you will add to the fantasy.

Weekend format:

Here is a suggestion for the most popular way to stage a mystery weekend.

Friday night: Begin as the guests arrive on Friday night with a meet and greet gathering. This gives your guests the opportunity to familiarize themselves with your accommodations and meet the other guests before stepping into character on Saturday night. Suggestion: Do a tie in entertainment to get them in the right spirit by renting a movie (in keeping with your planned theme;for example: an old gangster movie for the Velvet Room Mystery speakeasy theme or watch "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart for our 1940's Murder in Morocco) and serve popcorn. Your guests will relax and enjoy getting in the mood for mystery!

Saturday night: Stage the mystery party. Stop the action Saturday night just after guests vote for who they think dunit. Then...

Sunday morning: Reveal the solution and present the Awards over coffee and breakfast or treats. This serves as a great way to wrap up the weekend for your guests. You will also find that people love to talk about what they did when playing their roles (and laugh all over again. This gives them the opportunity to do so as well as think about planning to come back.

Single evening format:

Stage the party as a one evening event, just as a party would be staged in the home. You may serve a full dinner, light snacks, or hors d'oeuvres during the event. If you are not set up to serve a full meal, serve wine & cheese or desserts. It is not necessary to serve a full meal.
